Master Gardener Volunteer Program
The Master Gardener Program is a major outreach that assists Extension in
significant horticultural educational efforts in the community. As about 30% of
volunteers are retained from training to training, it has been determined that
annual trainings will be standard procedure to bolster the Master Gardener

Master Gardener Sprouting
Kit
The “Sprouting Kit” contains information that will be useful to you in understanding
the Master Gardener Program as well as the role and responsibilities of a
volunteer Master Gardener. It will also give you insight into the University of
Florida Extension Service, how it functions and how Master Gardeners operate as
part of the Extension Service.

Master Gardener Brochure
Each Master Gardener receives research-based instruction in all areas of home
horticulture and is kept up-to-date with the latest developments in home
horticulture from IFAS/University of Florida Extension. In return, Master
Gardeners volunteer an equivalent number of hours sharing their knowledge and
experience with interested gardeners in the community.
